The building is located in La Chanca, at the foot of La Alcazaba, on a narrow and elongated site oriented toward the fortress. The intervention takes advantage of this position to transform the residential complex into an urban belvedere overlooking one of Almería’s principal historical landmarks.
The proposal responds to the steep topography of the neighborhood through an architecture that connects levels, streets, and public spaces. The building incorporates pedestrian passages, entrances, and communal areas that not only resolve internal circulation but also contribute to stitching together the existing urban fabric.
The volumetric composition is organized into two residential bodies articulated through circulation cores and communal spaces. Its architectural language, based on white volumes, warm-toned surfaces, and vertical openings, establishes an abstract relationship with the solid geometry of the walls of La Alcazaba.
Natural light and views are essential components of the project. The dwellings, developed on a single level, open through vertical openings that promote daylight penetration, natural ventilation, and a direct relationship with the historic landscape.
From a constructive standpoint, the building adopts a rational and efficient solution, taking advantage of the site’s slope to position the parking garage at the lower level and the storage units in areas without exterior façades. The accessible dwellings are located at the level with the most direct street connection, facilitating accessibility and evacuation.
The complex comprises 33 dwellings, 33 parking spaces, and 33 storage units, but its principal value lies in transforming a residential operation into a piece of urban articulation, where context, circulation, natural light, and construction are integrated into a sober architecture deeply connected to the memory of La Chanca.
