Preliminary Health Center Project in Bailén (Jaén) 2008

The building is defined as a horizontal piece of exposed concrete, clearly set within the landscape, composed of cantilevered planes that provide shade, climatic protection and a recognisable institutional image, reinforced by the transparency of the base.

Access is resolved through a porticoed route that extends the threshold and anticipates the internal organisation. Longitudinal circulation structures the programme in a clear and hierarchical manner, facilitating orientation and ensuring the efficient functioning of the building.

Natural light articulates the project through courtyards and skylights that introduce controlled zenithal light, creating intermediate waiting areas with the presence of vegetation, enhancing environmental comfort and humanising the healthcare environment.

From a constructive standpoint, the building is based on a clear systems logic, where the exposed concrete structure is expressed with precision and complemented by glazed enclosures and timber elements that adjust the scale to the user.

The relationship with the context is established through large glazed surfaces that frame the landscape, integrating the building into its surroundings and reinforcing visual continuity between interior and exterior.
