92 Housing Units in Vega de Acá

The social housing project in Vega de Acá is integrated within a new urban expansion area of Almería, characterized by broad avenues, open spaces, and proximity to the coastal landscape. The U-shaped layout organizes the building volume, establishes a clear urban frontage, and generates a protected inner communal space conceived as a place for gathering and transition between the city and the domestic realm.

The façade presents a contemporary image through a modular composition of vertical openings and alternating surfaces in light, dark, and earth tones. This solution provides dynamism and depth to the ensemble while maintaining a simple and repetitive constructive logic. The dark plinth reinforces the base of the building and strengthens its relationship with the ground and the ground-floor level.

The balcony becomes the project’s main identity element. Present in all 92 dwellings, it is designed as a prefabricated perforated metal component in a blue-green tone, linked to the Mediterranean character of the context. In addition to extending the domestic space, it functions as a privacy filter, solar protection device, and enclosure for the external aerothermal units.

Natural light and circulation structure the residential experience. The ordered openings and projecting balconies promote daylight penetration and the relationship between interior and exterior, while the sequence connecting street, entrances, communal courtyard, and dwellings ensures a spatial organization that is clear, legible, and comfortable.

From a constructive standpoint, the building relies on modulation, repetition, and the use of industrialized elements. This strategy optimizes construction and maintenance processes, resulting in an architecture that is efficient, recognizable, and coherent with the urban and environmental context of Vega de Acá.
