Philosophy

FERRER ARQUITECTOS is an architectural services company founded in 1993, the year in which its founder, Architect José Ángel Ferrer, began his activity in Almería. In 2007, he opened a studio in Madrid, from where national and international projects are undertaken, and where he combines his fundamental activity as Principal Architect and Director of FERRER ARQUITECTOS with occasional teaching as a professor of Architectural Projects or speaker at conferences, seminars, or congresses.

A clear concern for issues related to quality and the environment has led FERRER ARQUITECTOS to implement ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OSHAS 18001 quality systems, which made us the first architectural studio in Andalusia and one of the first in Spain to be AENOR certified in these systems. We are convinced that rigor in project management is a guarantee for the final quality of our work.

Our differential value is the design of unique buildings based on light and sustainability, within strict compliance with costs and deadlines, and with a clear focus on architectural quality and the satisfaction of the client and the end user.

Our commitment to architectural quality and the client is total. We create projects for the maximum benefit of our clients while maintaining high architectural quality and within an ethic and values that are at the base of all our actions. The interest of FERRER ARQUITECTOS in quality architecture has been manifested over the years through the publication of texts in different publications or by the interventions of its members as speakers in courses, masters and conferences. In particular, José Ángel Ferrer has been developing some teaching activity in recent years, especially as a professor of architectural projects. In addition, FERRER ARQUITECTOS, since 1993 has belonged and continues to belong in many cases to various associations, forums or groups related to architecture and urbanism, such as BREEAM or the RIBA.

Although our architecture does not respond to dogmas or clichés, it does reflect a clear interest in offering a current response to the demands of a society in continuous change. Sensitivity to the environment and innovation, both constructive and formal, and a comprehensive service to our clients, constitute the basis of our actions. We believe that adequate control of all agents involved in the construction process is necessary for an optimal final result. To this end, we have a large team of architects, engineers, technicians and collaborators with a common goal: customer satisfaction through compliance with the agreed price and deadlines, offering a high level of design and innovation in all our projects.

FERRER ARQUITECTOS was the first architectural studio in Andalusia to establish an environmental management system certified by AENOR through ISO 14001 in 2007. From 2012 to 2018 we were the only Spanish architectural studio that was part of the advisory council of the Spanish section of BREEAM, the largest organization in the world of sustainable buildings. We have designed different buildings according to sustainability criteria, among which the PITÁGORAS and TECNOVA buildings stand out, a set of office buildings of 20,000 m2 located in Almería. The commitment to our environment is a reality and is guaranteed through the monitoring and control of the action plan established in the Corporate Social Responsibility manual of the studio and the monitoring that, as signatories of the United Nations Global Compact, we are committed to carry out by said organization. José Ángel Ferrer, our director, has drafted the agenda and has been the professor of the subject of Advanced Management of Sustainable Building Projects that has been taught at the Nebrija University of Madrid for several years.

Different Spanish magazines and publishers or from countries such as Germany, Portugal, France, Brazil, China, Russia, USA or the United Kingdom, have been interested in our work and have published our projects. Likewise, we have received several awards and mentions, having been selected and/or awarded for the FAD, ARCO and NAM awards. We have special appreciation for the award to the Architect that the Marble Association of Andalusia granted to José Ángel Ferrer in 2009, considering marble as one of the fundamental materials in the development of the history of architecture and being present in several of our most relevant works. In addition, FERRER ARQUITECTOS has won numerous competitions in the almost 25 years since its foundation in 1993, such as the headquarters of the Almería Science and Technology Park, the AVE station of Vera, the Canal Sur building of Granada, the Rehabilitation of the Almería Mineral Loading Dock, the Sports Pavilion for the headquarters of Rhythmic Gymnastics and Volleyball of the XXV Mediterranean Games or the project for 200 homes in Níjar for the Junta de Andalucía.
