Widening N-340. Almería. 2008.

We rely on the powerful reference to a zipper as an element of stitching the urban fissure. The zipper gives meaning to each of the project’s decisions. The teeth give rhythm to the pavement, alter green areas and spaces with urban furniture, and guide us at road crossings towards interior recreational areas. These geometries contrast with the smooth curves of the project’s lung. Thus, while the sinuous recreational and cultural curves invite us to remain timelessly, the strong geometries generated by our zipper establish dynamic passage routes. Maintenance and energy savings are promoted with abundant shaded areas and different strategies that minimize water or electricity consumption through the collection and storage of rainwater and the capture of solar and wind energy.
