Castelldefels railway station refurbishment project (Barcelona)

The project aims to complete the remodeling works of Castelldefels Station, building on the previous Platform and Track Project and the Phase 0 Architecture and Installations Project. The initial scope includes the construction of a new underpass and the extension of Platform 2, with a work schedule designed to allow simultaneous operations in order to shorten execution times.

The Platform and Track Construction Project establishes a phased development strategy that includes interventions on the tracks and platforms, alignment upgrades, catenary works and underpasses. It also provides for drainage and water evacuation measures, both during the construction phases and throughout the service life of the infrastructure.

For its part, the Phase 0 Architecture and Installations Project sets out provisional solutions for the underpass and Platform 3, with basic finishes and minimal accessibility, while permanent elements are installed in areas not subject to future modifications. These measures make it possible to maintain partial station operability until the full execution of the present project.

The current project adopts criteria of functionality, safety and maintainability in the definition of finishes, joinery, metalwork, installations, furniture and signage. Among its main actions are the demolition of the station bar and the canopy on Platform 1, without the need for compensation to the affected tenant.

Finally, the definitive solution includes the construction of fully completed underpasses and platforms, equipped with full finishes, lifts, handrails, installations and signage, ensuring the station’s full operability and accessibility.
