On May 27, 2016, as part of the conference on Sports Architecture organized by Vía Arquitectura in Madrid, José Ángel Ferrer gave a lecture on some sports projects by Ferrer Arquitectos: the Moisés Ruiz Pavilion, the “Ego Sport Center”, and the El Toyo Golf School. After the conference, there was a lively debate between the audience and all the speakers of the day, where José Ángel Ferrer made a harsh critique of the current procedures for awarding projects through competitions, both public and private, where the economic offer has excessive weight and where the architectural criteria, building operation, or solvency of the team, have less and less importance. José Ángel Ferrer believes that in addition to giving more importance to the proposals, the costs thereof should be borne by those who convene the contest, so that serious and solvent proposals can be made with the minimum required quality.
The construction of the El Toyo Golf School, directed by Ferrer Arquitectos, has been completed. It is the third school of its kind to be built in Andalusia and constitutes an important sports infrastructure, promoted by the Junta de Andalucía in Almería, to get started in the practice of golf.

Ferrer Arquitectos begins the layout of the new school in Churriana de la Vega (Granada). The school, promoted by the Education Agency of the Junta de Andalucía, will have classrooms for early childhood and primary education.
It also has all the complementary services such as a sports hall, sports courts, playgrounds, library, and dining room. It has an approximate area of 3,000 m2. In the attached photo, the Construction Management team appears during the start of the works.
Ferrer Arquitectos is one of the candidates to carry out the Santander Waterfront Project. The other candidates include West 8 and Dominique Perrault, Nieto y Sobejano, and Ezquiaga Arquitectos. To obtain information on all the candidates and learn about the Contest process, see the attached file.
Our Director and Professor of Architectural Projects at the Nebrija University of Madrid, José Ángel Ferrer, presented his Doctoral Thesis last Friday at the School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM-UPM). The title of the Thesis is “Rafael Moneo, the work of art and the architecture of museums.” Rafael Moneo himself, who attended the presentation, praised the content of the Thesis as well as its presentation.
It is the first Doctoral Thesis to be presented worldwide on the entire museum work of Rafael Moneo, which, according to José Ángel, has been a great challenge for both him and the Director of the Thesis, the architect and Professor of Projects of Madrid, José Manuel López-Peláez.
Congratulations to the new Doctor Architect.
