Expansion Proposal for the Almería Auditorium

Expansion Proposal for the Almería Auditorium

Proposal by Ferrer Arquitectos for the expansion of the Maestro Padilla Auditorium in Almería.
The new building is designed as an independent structure connected to the existing building through the basement and a gallery on the first floor.
The new construction faces the sea with a volume that houses the required uses, a library, and a viewpoint restaurant.
The aim is also to incorporate all the existing public space in front of the auditorium into the new uses, so that this free space functions as an extension of the complex for carrying out activities, linked to the auditorium, facing the sea.

José Ángel Ferrer Presented His Book at the COAM

Yesterday, the book “Rafael Moneo. The Art and Architecture of Museums” was presented at the College of Architects of Madrid. José Ángel Ferrer, author of the book, shared some anecdotes related to his interest in Moneo’s work before an almost full auditorium. He highlighted the importance that the works of art to be exhibited have had in the final design of Moneo’s museums, especially in the paradigmatic cases of Mérida and the Miró Foundation, while reviewing, in a suci nt manner, the most relevant qualities and values, in his opinion, of the six museums analyzed in the book: Museo Romano de Mérida, Thyssen in Madrid, Fundación Miró in Palma de Mallorca, Davis Museum in Boston, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Fine Arts Museum in Houston. At the table with Ferrer were Rafael Moneo, who praised the presented work, José Manuel López-Peláez, and Marcelo Camerlo. Also attending the event were D. Manuel Villa-Cellino (President of the Nebrija University), D. Diego Martínez Cano (President of the Chamber of Commerce of Almería), and other personalities from the world of culture and business, along with numerous architects and those interested in the world of culture in general and museums in particular.
