The temporary joint venture (UTE) formed by FERRER ARQUITECTOS and the engineering firm CLOTHOS has been awarded the contract for the Vera AVE station project. The project for the new Vera-Almanzora AVE station will be designed by FERRER ARQUITECTOS. The architecture studio, in a temporary joint venture with the engineering firm CLOTHOS, competed with several of the most important architecture studios nationwide, such as César Portela and L35, obtaining the highest technical score. FERRER ARQUITECTOS, with offices in Almería, Madrid, Seville, and soon in London, is becoming one of the most important studios nationwide in terms of work volume and project quality. It is also currently carrying out the works for the central headquarters of the PITA (Almería Science and Technology Park), the new TECNOVA headquarters also in the PITA, and the “Las Almadrabillas” sports center.
The “Los Almendros” Social Center was inaugurated on March 16th. A project by FERRER ARQUITECTOS that addresses the lack of facilities that the neighborhood has historically suffered. In this way, the 3,000 m² building will contribute to the regeneration of one of the most degraded areas of the city. The building is conceived as a public square protected by a large roof that gives unity to the whole complex. The open and cheerful character of the center favors interaction between users. The entire municipal corporation attended the event, with the Mayor at the head, a neighborhood representative, and a large audience. For our part, the FERRER ARQUITECTOS team that developed the project, led by José Ángel Ferrer, was present.

The sculpture “Light and Sun”, designed by FERRER ARQUITECTOS, is located in the Careaga square of Almería. The idea arises from the abstraction of two concepts easily identifiable in the city of Almería: Light and Sun.
The formalization of it is based on the geometric figure of the sphere, as a metaphor for the Sun. Thus, the sphere appears as a luminous object that reflects sunlight during the day and radiates light from its interior during the night.
The sculpture is made of 8 mm sheet metal. of matte stainless steel, a shiny and highly durable material that generates sparkles. The words Luz and Sol have been milled on the surface of the sphere in 5 languages: Spanish, English, Italian, French and German, the five most spoken languages in the European Union. Inside the sphere there is a lighting lamp composed of three low-consumption LED arms, which generate halos of light when passing through the milled letters that make up the surface of the sphere.
In short, a sculpture that transmits the most representative values of Almería and that, given its location in the historic center of the city, contributes to its revitalization by constituting a greater tourist attraction due to its uniqueness and design.
