Ferrer gives a lecture on sports architecture
José Ángel Ferrer participated as a speaker in the International Conference on Sports Architecture held at the College of Architects of Granada on October 20, 21 and 22, organized by the Andalusian Institute of Sports with the presence of almost 200 architects.
The architect from Almería presented some of the sports projects carried out by Ferrer Arquitectos in recent years, such as the Moisés Ruiz pavilion or the “Las Almadrabillas” sports complex currently under construction. José Ángel Ferrer recalled the importance of designing well to manage cheaply, a concept that is often not sufficiently taken into account and that is of vital importance in sports facilities where subsequent management costs are usually quite high compared to other types of buildings. Ferrer stressed the importance of taking into account some essential aspects in the design and construction of sports facilities, such as the concentration of accesses, the use of natural light, accessibility or the appropriate choice of sports flooring. He also recalled that today more than ever, construction costs must be adjusted through innovative and imaginative solutions that manage to adjust costs while contributing to the dignity and comfort of the sports facility.
Ferrer Arquitectos, with offices in Almería, Madrid, London and Seville, has a current permanent staff of 15 people, mostly architects, among the 4 offices. Current projects include the Las Almadrabillas sports complex, the building for the headquarters of PITA and TECNOVA, both in Almería, the AVE station in Vera and a residential complex with sports facilities in Madrid, among others.
