Ferrer gives a lecture about sports architecture:
Jose Angel Ferrer was a speaker at the International Conference of Sports Architecture held in the Professional Association of Architects of Granada on 20th, 21st and 22nd October, organized by the Andalusian Institute of Sport with the presence of nearly 200 architects.
The architect presented some of the sports projects undertaken by Ferrer Arquitectos in recent years, such as the Moisés Ruiz Sports Centre or the Sports Complex “The Almadrabillas” currently under construction. Jose Angel Ferrer, stressed the importance of good design to managecheaply, a concept that many do not take sufficiently into account and that is vital in sports facilities where subsequent management costs are usually quite high compared to other buildings. Ferrer, stressed the importance of taking into account some key aspects in the design and construction of sports facilities, such as the concentration of accesses, the use of natural light or the proper choice of sports flooring. He also recalled that today more than ever, we must adapt the construction costs through innovative and imaginative solutions to which adjust costs while contributing to the propriety and comfort of the sports facility.
Ferrer Arquitectos, with offices in Almeria, Madrid, London and Seville, has a current permanent staff of 15 people, most of them architects. Current projects include The Sports Complex Almadrabillas, the headquarters building of TECNOVA and PITA, the Vera railway station and a residential complex with sports facilities in Madrid among others.
